Saint George

The Greeks from Istanbul are ascribed to Ayios Yeorgious,have a ritual celebration on feast day.They go to the monastery on the top of Buyukada which has the same name with saint.The ritual especially based on,going there with colorful ropes,lighting candles and binding clothes and ropes to the walls of monastery and to the surroundings trees for their wishes.The monastery is the most wishing place for Greeks in Istanbul,at the same feast day also numerous of muslims visit there for wishing.The people whom their wishes came true again visit the monastery on september with lamp oil. For Orthodox Ayios Yeorgios,for Catholics Saint George,and for Armenians Surp Kevork as named for the monastery.This saints feast celebration begin every year on 23 April.
